A full-time Special Education teaching opportunity is available for the 2025-2026 school year at a K-12 urban school district located in Flint, MI. This contract position runs approximately from January 5, 2026, to June 12, 2026. The role involves working primarily onsite with self-contained classrooms, managing caseloads of up to 22 students across Early Learning (pre-K and up) through K-12 grade levels.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide instruction and support in Resource Room and Special Education settings.
- Design and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) addressing the unique needs of students.
- Collaborate with staff, families, and related service providers to enhance learning outcomes.
- Maintain compliance with Michigan Administrative Rules for Special Education (MARSE) and IDEA federal regulations.
- Engage with urban student populations, demonstrating understanding of their challenges and appropriate resource utilization.
Qualifications & Desired Experience
- Michigan Teacher Certificate with a Learning Disabilities (LD) endorsement is required.
- Preferred endorsements include Emotional Impairment (EI), Cognitively Impaired (CI), or MDE endorsement ZA (Early Childhood) plus another area of Special Education.
- Candidates with experience in urban school districts and knowledge of MARSE and IDEA regulations are highly valued.
- Comfort and capability to work onsite; some virtual positions may be available for candidates residing in Michigan.
- Full-time availability preferred (35 hours per week).
- Strong communication skills and the ability to conduct remote interviews.
